Moor, on Friday.
The circumstances under which he received the injuries were these: -
He came to the engine house at the pit and requested to be let down. The
engineman believing him to be drunk refused to comply with the request. The
deceased went out saying he would go down. Shortly afterwards the deceased
attempted to descend the pit by the rope, and he was found at the bottom so badly
hurt that death ensued on the following morning.
An inquest was held near Egremont, on Saturday, and the jury returned a
verdict of “Killed by misadventure.”
