A public demonstration of the friends of education took place on Tuesday week, at Craven Chapel, Golden Square, London , to promote the objects of the recent conference. Mr. HINDLEY, M.P., presided. Mr. JAMES explained the object of the Congregationalist body more fully, and stated that they had determined to raise the sum of £1000,000 in five years for the purpose of educating the people. Of that sum, £22,771 10s had already been raised (loud cheers), more than one half of which had been raised in the metropolis alone. Amongst the donations were five of £1,000 each, eleven of £500, fifteen of £250, four of £200, one of £150 twenty of £125, twenty-five of £100, thirty-five of £50.
