Death of Miss Greenip
We regret to have to record, the decease of the
worthy lady, who died at her residence, Greta street , Keswick, on Monday
last the 7th inst aged 74 years. Until very recently Miss Ann Greenip was a
most efficient and painstaking teacher of young females in Keswick, she was
the daughter of the late Mr. John Greenip, who was in his early days one of
the master`s in the Appleby Grammar School, and afterwards, headmaster of
the High School at Keswick, He was a man of great attainments, and he gave
such attention to Miss Greenip`s education that she was well qualified for
her vocation. She was a strict disciplinarian, which did not however lessen
the esteem of her scholars, who in after life, showed their respect on all
occasions for their teacher, She was also much respected by a large circle
of friends and acquaintances to whom her loss cannot be replaced.
