On Wednesday week, another melancholy death occurred in the neighbourhood of Skirwith.
It appears that a young man named ROBERT BRIGGS, of Penrith, who entered the employment of MR. JOHN JACKSON, farmer, Culgaith, Wednesday week, in digging sand from a pit, near Skirwith.
MR. JACKSON went off with a cart load of sand, leaving BRIGGS at work, digging, and on his return he found that a wall of sand had fallen in and buried the unfortunate young man, who was quite dead.
Deceased was only 19 years of age, and had only gone to his situation the day previous to the accident.
