The Harbour Bridge, which has undergone a thorough overhauling under the supervision of Mr. DOBSON, engineer at the at the new dock, was re-opened for traffic on Saturday last.
The structure seems to have been very much strengthened, and no doubt for some time to come it will stand with comparative safety the extra strain which an increasing traffic may bring to bear upon it; but, at the same time, it is quite evident that the facilities which the bridge affords for vehicular and passenger traffic between Maryport and the dock are quite adequate; and that before long the Trustees will find it necessary to erect a new bridge.
