The usual temperance meeting was held on Saturday evening last when an excellent address was given by the Rev. Samuel BEAVAN. A solo entitled, “Kilarney” rendered in a very pleasing manner by Miss. LOWREY, was thoroughly enjoyed by all present. A recitation by Miss. Nellie JACKSON (one of the scholars) was prettily said. Sister Helen presided.

On Sunday the Harvest Festival was celebrated, the church having been well and tastefully decorated with flowers and fruit by many willing hands, everything looked very smart.

At the morning service, conducted by Mr. BRA~~ there was a good attendance. Mr. WOODLEY was the preacher, his text being Matt. 7, 20. In the afternoon a service of song entitled “Reaping Time” was splendidly given by the choir. The connective readings were taken by Mr. DUTSON. Mr. James NELSON occupied the chair.

A children’s service was held at 5 o’clock, at which a good number of little ones were present. Many of the workers took part in making it a bright half hour. An appropriate sermon was preached by Mr. DUTSON from Jer. II, 21. Miss. E. CLUCAS (Workington) was the soloist. On Tuesday evening the service of song was repeated to a large audience. Mr. GREEN presided, Mr. WOODLEY being the reader.

At the close the fruit, vegetables, etc.,  which kind friends had so generously given, were disposed of by Mr. MURRAY. Many thanks are due to the decorators, contributors, chairman, collectors, and all who took part in the work of making the Harvest Festival such a success in every way.
