We observe that another improvement is in hands at Workington relative to the growing body of that town. Practical measures and a determination to carry them out, are characteristic of the present chairman, who amidst the many important subjects now engrossing the attention of the Board, has time to see the carrying out of the alterations that are being effected at the rear of the present Local Board offices, to provide a fine new Board Room.
Messrs. MILBURN, DEIGHTON, and IREDALE are the committee charged with the alterations, and when completed, the Workington Local Board room will be a vast improvement on that in use at present.
Beneath it the cottages facing Edkin Street are being converted into a fire station for the new engine and brigade, and no doubt the efficacy of the establishment will be completed by the extensive alterations now being made.
