THE REV.
ROBERT JACKSON.
________
A special service, in connection with the settlement of the Rev. R.
JACKSON (late minister of the Cockermouth Congregational Church) as pastor of the
Hannah Street Congregational Church, Cardiff, was held on Wednesday, last
week.
After a tea, at which a large number was present, a public meeting was
held, when the chair was occupied by Alderman LEWIS, J. P., and there was a
large congregation. The chapel had been most tastefully decorated for the
occasion, "a profuse display of plants, flowers and adornments giving to the
interior of the edifice a very beautiful appearance, particularly in the vicinity
of the pulpit, where the decorations were of a most lavish description."
Addresses were given by the Revs:
R. DAWSON, B. A., of London
G. THOMAS
J. Lloyd WILLIAMS
J. R. DAVIES
Mr. A. T. THOMAS, J. P., and others.
The meeting was most enjoyable, and, to quote form a report from the
proceedings in one of the local newspapers, "Mr. JACKSON received a most hearty
welcome at the commencement of his ministry" in his new sphere of labour.
