On Saturday afternoon at St. Bees Priory Church, Mr. Tom Hodgson PEEL, only son of Mr. and Mrs. John Henry PEEL of Bowthorn Farm, Cleator Moor, married Miss. Margaret Ann BUTLER, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John BUTLER, of Main Street, St. Bees.
The young couple and their parents are well known and highly respected. The bride who was given away by Mr. K. RICHARDSON ( a friend), was charmingly attired in a dress of steel grey marocain, with hat to match and shoes and stockings to tone, and carried a bouquet of tulips.
She was attended by three bridesmaids, Miss. Mary DAVY (cousin), Miss. Emily CHRISTIE, niece of the bridegroom, and Miss. Elsie SHARP (her friend), all being attired in dresses of Princess Mary blue crepe-de-chine with hats to match and shoes and stockings to tone. Miss. DAVY wore a gold pendant, and Miss. CHRISTIE and Miss. SHARP, gold brooches, the gifts of the bridegroom.
The best man was Mr. John CHRISTIE, brother-in-law of the bridegroom. The vicar, the Rev. A. AINLEY, M. A., officiated.
As the happy couple left the church, the bride placed her bouquet on the village war memorial.
A reception was afterwards held at the home of the bride. Later the happy couple left to take up residence at Cleator Moor. They received many beautiful presents.
