The first sample of new barley was exhibited in our market on Saturday last,
grown by Mr. J. H. SUTTON, of Oakbank, near Scotby, and was sold at 15s. per
bushel. - Carlisle Journal.

CARLISLE, Aug. 19. The weather during the week has been extremely fine, and from
all parts we hear the most cheering accounts of the prospects of the harvest.
Here and there the reapers have already got to work, and should the weather
continue fine, the harvest will soon be general. Potatoes are now selling in our
market at 2d. per stone - a most seasonable relief to the poor, who have
suffered much lately from the high price of the valuable vegetable.
