THE LAKES. - There has never been known a season during which the visitors at
the lakes of Cumberland and Westmoreland have been so numerous as during that
which is now terminating, but owing to the unfavourable state of the weather
they have, for the most part, stayed but a short time. The attendance at most of
the watering-places this year has also been large, and such as to indicate
general prosperity. - Leeds Mercury.
