In Carlisle Gaol, on Tuesday last, a female prisoner named MARR died of grief and a broken heart. She was convicted at the spring assizes, and sentenced to four months' imprisonment, for stealing some articles of wearing apparel whilst in service. She had been then only a few weeks married; and a sense of her degraded situation as a prisoner preyed so bitterly on her mind as to lead to her early death, in a dungeon, where no friend was present to soothe her dying sorrows. |
