The Times, Wednesday, Nov 07, 1827; pg. 3; Issue 13430; col F

We hear that the Carlisle gingham trade is rapidly recovering from the
depression, and wages have in many instances advanced from 20 to 40, and even 50
per cent. Weavers are in great request, but as the same is the case in several
parts of Lancashire, the large number who quitted Carlisle at a less fortunate
period are not likely to return. - Carlisle Patriot.
