THE TIMES, Monday, Nov. 11, 1811

To the credit of Westmorland, no person has been executed in it since the year 1732, when ARCHIBALD IRVING and WALTER GRIVES, suffered the sentence of the law, for the murder of R. PARKER, at Harkthorp;  but both delinquents were strangers in the country;  so that there have been twenty-nine maiden assizes in succession.
