THE STRONG DOINGS OF A TEETOTALLER.

The Bath Chronicle gives an account of a man named John HANCOCKS, a quarryman,
on Combe Down, measuring no more than four feet in height, and who was a rigid
teetotaller, carrying three cwt. of freestone up and down some hills, altogether
a distance of nearly three miles within half an hour. He accomplished the feat
for a wager of half a sovereign. Previous to starting, the Samsonian teetotaller
contrived to eat 2lbs. of beef, with bread in proportion, and drink two quarts
of coffee to his breakfast.
