S H I P P I N G .

On the 4th instant, a handsome new brig was launched from the building yard of Messrs. RITSON & Co.,
at Maryport, called the Marmion, of 217 tons register measurement, and intended for the West India
trade.

The Lady Shaw Stewart, WISE, from Antigua at Whitehaven on the 9th instant, after a passage of 47
days, all well; experienced strong easterly winds, and was detained upwards of a week in the
channel.

The Antigua Packet, HUNTER, sailed from Whitehaven at Liverpool on the 9th instant, and arrived on
the following morning.

The Catherine, CRENNELL, from Phwelli at Whitehaven on the 9th instant.

The Elizabeth, FRANCE, from Whitehaven at Cardiff on the 7th instant.

The Eliza, CLARKE, sailed from Whitehaven for Cardiff on the 8th inst.; and the Lark, PLUNKETT, on
the 9th.

The Isabella, KELLY, from Whitehaven at Cardiff on the 4th instant; and the Douro, REID, on the 6th.

The Terry, GLAISTER, sailed from Maryport for Quebec on the 6th inst.

The Triton, CARNELL, and the Lagan, RANDLE, from Whitehaven at Belfast.

The Mercury, LANE, sailed from Whitehaven for Glasgow on the 9th inst.

The Bardsea, GAITSKELL, from Whitehaven at Gloucester on the 5th instant.

The Elizabeth, FRODSHAM, the Capella, CANDLISH, the Richard, STOUP, the Success, SAVAGE, the
Margaret and Mary, JONES, the Bransty, RUSSELL, and the Victory, DAVIS, from Whitehaven at Cardiff
on the 7th instant.

MATANZAS, April 8. - The Balfour, OVEREND, of Whitehaven, from Mobile for Liverpool, which put in
here on the 22nd ult. very leaky, with bows considerably damaged, having been in contact with the
American ship, Wabash, on the 20th, off the Double-headed Shot Keys, has been discharged and will be
surveyed and repaired.
