Last week a tender pair halted at Penrith, on their way to Gretna Green; after a
short refreshment they pursued their journey towards the spot where their wishes
were to be completed, when two unfeeling fellows laid violent hands on them near
Carlisle, forcing them to return. The Lady had just completed her sixteenth
year, and the Gentleman wanted only nine months of fifteen! The Gentleman was
equery to the Lady's uncle, and charge des affairs in all matters relative to
shoes, boots, &c.
