Angel Inn

The following Vauable Leashold property, situate in the Parish of Alston:
viz. -
Lot 1.  All that old established and well accustomed INN, known by the name
of the "Angel Inn" situate in the central part of the Town of Alston, with a
Brewhouse,  Pighouse, Yar, and other conveniences adjoing, lately in the
occupation of Mrs. Sarah Pattinson, deceased.  This Inn is in good repair
and most desirably situated, and has for a great number of years supported
an extensive and respectable business.

Lot 2.  Two Cottage Houses, with Coal houses and other Conveniences
belonging thereto, now in the occupation of Thomas Walton and Joseph
Todd,a large Barn adjoining the said Cottages, together with a large
and
convenient Stable underneath the said Cottage House and Barn, also a large
cellar underneath the said Stable, all of which are situate contiguous to
Lot 1, and will be sold either with or without the said Lot 1. at the option
of Purchasers.

Lot 3  Two Cottages Houses and Two Stables, with Pighouses, Yard, &c.,
situated adjoining Lot 2, and now in the occupation of Mary Jackson,
Jonathan Walton, and others. - This Lot will also be sold along with Lots 1
and 2 if wished for by Purchasers.

Lot 4 Two Closes of Meadow and Pasture Land, Containing by admeasurement, 15
Acres, situate at a place called Water Greens, near High Skelgill, in the
Parish of Alston.
The purchasers of Lot 1, 2, and 3 may have immediate possession of the same,
(with the exception of the Cottage Houses and Conveniences,) on paying a
reasonable rent until the completion of the purchase.

The premises may be viewed by applying to Mr. John Pattinson, Miner,  or
to Mr. Joseph Pattinson, Blacksmith, Alston; and further particulars may

Croft Lodge Mansion and Estate

Windermere Lake. 


Messrs. Thos. Winstanley and Sons, of Liverpool, have the honour to
announce that they have received directions from James Brancker, Esq., the
Proprietor, to Sell by Auction, on the Premises, on Thursday, the 20th day
of July, 1843, at Two o'clock in the Afternoon.

The MANSION and ESTATE, called CROFT LODGE, consisting of an elegant modern
Residence, with Green-house, extensive Stables, Boxes, Coach-houses, and
well arranged Offices of every description.  Hot and Cold Baths, productive
Garden, Park, and Pleasure Grounds, tastefully laid out, and enriched with
Shrubberies, and ornamental Boat House, and every other requisite for a
commodious establishment.

Together with Five Inclosures of Rich Meadow Land, part of which, having
frontage to the road from Ulverston and Ambleside to Hawkshead, is suitable
for erection of detached Residences.  The Mansion is most adantageously
situated at the head of the Lake of Windermere, and commands beautiful views
of that and the surrounding varied and picturesque scenery.  It is sheltered
from the north and north-westerly winds by thriving woodlands adjoining to
Loughrigg Fells.


The Mansion and Estate may be viewed seven days previous to the sale (Sunday
excepted,)  with tickets, which, with further particulars, may be had on

To be Sold, in Public Auction, on Friday, the 4th day of August next, upon
the Premises, at Eight o;clock in the Evening.  (if not previously Disposed
of by Private Contract, of which due Notice will be given.)

That Convenient and well Accustomed INN, with all the Appurtenances
belonging thereto, situated in the Market Place, Carlisle.

Farm at Ruthwaite


To Let, and entered upon at Candlemas next, for such a Term of Years as may
be agreed upon.

All the Desirable Farm, the property of H. Grainger, Esq., situate at
Rutherwaite, near Ireby, consisting of 135 acres of Ancient Arable Meadow,
and improved Pasture Land, with two good Farm Houses and suitable
Out-Buildings now in the several occupations of Mr. George Cape, Mr. Henry
Casson, of Ruthwaite, Mr. Johnathan Cowx, and Mr Thomas Biglands, of Uldale. 


The above Property is Tithe free.

The Landlord will readily make all reasonable permanent Improvements, such
as Draining, &c., £5 per cent per annum on the outlay.

The best Limestone is found on the Estate, and every facility exists for
Irrigation and thorough Draining.
