The annual ‘Term’ effort of the ex-servicemen to augment the  funds for the Old Folks Christmas Treat, was held on Friday night in the Church Rooms, and took the form of a whist drive and dance. Eighteen tables were  occupied and the prizes were hams (subscribed for by ex-servicemen) and others  given by friends. The results were:

Ladies: -

1. Mrs. HETHERINGTON, 183

2. Miss. M. P. IRVING, 182

3. Miss. E. E. IRVING, 175

Gentlemen: -

1. Mr. R. REED, 180

2. Mr. W. A. WATSON, 179

3. Mr. J. SLOAN, 172

 Mrs. J. LITTLETON, Ellenbank, presented the prizes and the Rev. E. B.   FURMSTON proposed to her a hearty vote of thanks. The M.C.’s were Rev. E. B.   FURMSTON and Mr. J. J. BENSON.

 Jim SMALLWOOD’s Sylvians Orchestra provided music for the dance, the   attendance being about 30 couples. Rev E. B. FURMSTON acting as M. C. A  committee of ex-servicemen carried out the arrangements, with Mr. T. CARRUTHERS  as secretary, and the friends and wives of the committee who served the supper  were:-
