MARYPORT COMMUNISTS
SEND GREETINGS TO  RUSSIA.
______

This meeting of the Maryport workers expresses its greetings to  the workers and peasants on the occasion of the 14th anniversary of the Russian   Revolution. It appreciates the great success of the 5 Year Plan which has laid  the firm basis for Socialism. It also recognizes that the Soviet Workers’  Republic is threatened by Capitalist Government, especially the national  Starvation Government in power in this country. Therefore all workers pledge  themselves to fight against the National Government, which is oppressing the  workers here by the method of the Means Test and Wage cuts. Forward to the fight  against the National Government Greetings to the Soviet workers and  peasants.

This resolution was passed at a public meeting held by the Maryport
Communist Party, at the Co-operative Hall, Maryport, on Monday night. The  meeting was presided over by Mr. J. McCARRON and was only sparsely  attended.

Comrade H. LEE, the Northern Organiser spoke on “What I saw in  Russia.”

A collection was taken and the speaker made an appeal for a second
collection. He said they had taken less than 3s and the cost of the hall was  15s. Later he announced that it had reached 3s 4d. Would somebody give another  2d and make it 3s 6d? Eventually 4s was taken.
