CONGRATULATIONS.

The Mayor of Carlisle, Mr. M. THOMPSON received the following telegram from the Mayor of Workington: -
“The burgesses of Workington offer you their sincere congratulations on your election as Mayor of the City of Carlisle, and their best wishes for a prosperous year of office.”

 The Mayor replied as follows: -  “Please accept my sincere thanks for the kind congratulations of the burgesses of Workington. The citizens of Carlisle offer heartiest congratulations on your election as Mayor of the Borough of Workington, and  trust that during your year of office you may see a revival of trade for the  industries of your borough with consequent increase of employment.”

The Mayor also received a telegram of congratulation from the Lord Mayor of Newcastle.
