HENSINGHAM BIRD
CATCHERS  FINED.
______

CAGED DECOYS AND  LIME.
______

“Your morning’s entertainment is going to be costly, and I  hope you will not repeat this cruel practice,” said Mr. R. JEFFERSON, to two  youths who pleaded “guilty” at Whitehaven on Thursday to attempting to catch  wild birds with bird lime.

They were Robert BURNS and Richard PIPER, of Keekle Terrace,  Hensingham, and each was fined 20s. P. C. GILL stated that he saw the lads  concealed behind a hedge near Summer Grove and when he investigated found two  decoy birds in cages (produced) and limed sticks placed in the  trees.

Replying to the Chairman, PIPER said that he did not know that  they were doing wrong.
