The choir anniversary services were held in the primitive  Methodist Church
on Sunday and Tuesday. The services on Sunday were conducted by  Councillor H.
HOLLINSHEAD, N. E. T. L., Wigton, who preached excellent sermons,  morning and
evening. After the evening service a sacred concert was given by Mr.
HOLLINSHEAD’s party who provided and excellent programme, consisting of solos,  duets
and quartettes. The choir was in attendance and gave very fine renderings  of
three choruses, two being tests at the working ton Musical Festival, where
the choir was successful in gaining the shield. The conductor was Mr. A. MINTO,
and the accompanist was Miss. Mabel DAWSON, A. L. C. M. Mr. J. SERGINSON was
the  chairman. The stewards were J. ATKINSON and A. DITCHBURN.

On Tuesday afternoon a public tea was served by the lady members of the
choir. In the evening Mr. HOLLINSHEAD delivered one of his popular lectures on  “
The influence of music.” The lecturer handled his subject in a most capable
manner. Special music was rendered by the choir, who did great credit to their
conductor, Mr. A. MINTO, by the manner of their singing. Miss. A. DAWSON was
the  accompanist.

The arrangements were carried out by the choir, with Mr. t. FARISH,
secretary and Mr. J. W. FARISH, treasurer. The proceeds are in aid of the choir  funds.
