In connection with the Ennerdale School Excursion Fund, a whist drive and dance was held in the schoolroom on Friday. The attendance was adversely affected by the very inclement weather, but the company spent a very enjoyable evening. There were eighteen tables for the whist, for which Mr. T. C. MCKENZIE was M. C. Mrs. T. C. MCKENZIE presented the prizes to the following successful competitors: Ladies: 1. Mrs. C. HALES, Lamplugh 2. Mrs. SHERWEN, High Stowbank 3. Mrs. W. N. PARK, Cragg Gentlemen: 1. Mr. H. BATEMAN, Ennerdale 2. Mr. W. THWAITES, Ennerdale. 3. Mr. R. STEELE, Ennerdale. Mr. MCKENZIE proposed a vote of thanks to all who had assisted. An excellent supper was served by the ladies’ committee, and efficient music was supplied by Mr. J. R. WATSON’s Corona Band. Messrs. T. RAWLING and H. MITCHELL, Jun., were M.C.’s for the dance, and Mr. H. BATEMAN was steward. |
