 Robert B. BREW (40), 41 The Oval, and John WISE (29), 12  Wetheriggs Road
both of Salterbeck, were charged with the theft of 12 stones of  cial, value 2s
3d from the Derwent ironworks.

 P. C. BOUSTEAD said he was on the foreshore at 6 o’clock  on the morning of
the 10th when he met the defendants with the coal  produced.

 Supt. RITCHIE stated that there was nothing against  either of the
defendants, but BREW was with his son, when a fortnight ago, the  same constable
arrested him, also for theft.

 BREW was fined 10s and WISE had to pay the costs,  8s  9d.
