£26 RAISED.

The annual effort was held in the Sunday School on Tuesday. Mr. J. Mandale LISTER (hon. Treasurer), presided and introduced Mrs. SIMPSON, who  declared a sale of work open. Mr. LISTER referred to the needs of the church and  spoke warmly of the kindness of Mrs. SIMPSON and family and their good work in the village.

Mrs. SIMPSON, who gave an address, was heartily thanked, on the motion of  Mr. J. Hope LISTER. (secretary)

A good sale ensued, there being a large company present. The stalls  
displayed a choice selection of useful and beautiful articles, many of which had  made by a small band of women who have met regularly  for the past year for that purpose. Those who assisted at the stalls were: -

Peggy LITTLE and Isabel BEATTIE had a bran tub. The tea was presided over  by Mesdames W. STEPHENSON, J. Hope LISTER RICHARDSON, J. BEATTIE, J. H. LISTER,  J. ROGERS, J. KIRKPATRICK, Miss. L. RIGG.

In the evening an excellent programme was given by the Clifton Choral  
Society. Mr. R. HINDE, Brigham,  presided. A comprehensive vote of thanks  was warmly accorded on the proposition of Mr. H. SKERRY seconded by Mr. J. H.  CLARKE. The following also rendered valuable assistance during the day: -
