The water shortage was again the chief topic at  Dearham Parish Council
meeting.

The chairman, Mr. T. PATTERSON, said the position was  serious, with no
supply in certain areas and only six inches in the  reservoir.

He suggested a rationing system of four hours a day  would replenish the
supply. The Maryport and Cockermouth engineers should  consult and improve the
position.

Mr. T. A. DOBIE said they should appeal to higher  authorities.

NEW HOUSES DELAY.

Mr. DOBIE announced a delay in the planning of new  houses. It was agreed to
obtain plans for a bus shelter at Smithy Hill and to  ask the Electricity
Board to expedite the street lighting  improvements.
