Two Maryport men were honored in Maryport Court  yesterday (Friday) foe
bravery in making a rescue from Maryport North Pier on  July 5 when they saved the
life of Miss. Amelia SARGINSON, King Street,  Maryport, who had fallen from
the pier into 15 feet of  water.

George MURRAY (17) went in first and was joined by  William K. PATTERSON
(37), Ingleby Terrace, Maryport. Between them they brought  out the drowning woman.

MURRAY, now 18, resides in Crosby Street,  Maryport.

Ald. D. G. WILSON, chairman of the Bench, commended  them for having saved
the life of a fellow citizen and presented them each with  the Royal Humane
Society’s certificate.
