14 Feb. 1959 A Quiz

Compiled by Lady Alethea ELIOT and Mr. Sydney BEATTIE,  a fascinating local quiz has been arranged in connection with the Christ Church  Mother’s Union effort in aid of the Parish Church Appeal Fund. Entries at a  shilling each, are to be sent to Lady Alethea at the Vicarage by Monday, March  23. Forms are being circulated setting out forty questions, among which are the  following example: Where were the Gallows? Why Fairfield? Largely through whose efforts was Christ Church built? Who were the following and where were they  commemorated: J. R. MITCHELL? Lord NAAS? Robert CRICHTON? Frederic Robertson SEWELL? Why was the Derwent diverted? What was done for the town in 1956? 1903? And  1895? Which religious leader bathed his wounds in Ellerbeck  after maltreated by a mob at Brigham?
