Liverpool. - The third city in the Empire is now represented by three Conservatives. On Friday, Lord Claud HAMILTON was returned in place of Lord RAMSAY, who succeeds his father in the Peerage. The numbers were:-
Lord C. HAMILTON (C.), 21,019; Mr. PLIMSOLL (L.), 19,118; majority for the Conservative, 1901. Neither side polled as many as in February last, the interest being less; but, proportionately to the numbers, the Conservative majority was even greater than then.
Sandwich.- On Tuesday the Judges unseated Mr. C. ROBERTS (C.), each party to pay its own costs. The Judges said they found that extensive bribery prevailed on both sides.
