TRESPASSING IN SEARCH OF GAME
ON THE WHITEHALL ESTATE:

       Jas. HENNEY, miner, Fletchertown, and Jos. CASS, miner, Fletchertown, were summoned before the Wigton magistrates yesterday (Tuesday) on a charge of having tresspassed in search of game on land in the possession of Mr. Wm. PARKIN-MOORE, of Whitehall.

       Mr. J. F. W. RITSON prosecuted.

       John ARMSTRONG, gamekeeper, stated that he saw the defendants on the 26th May on the Newlands Row ground with a greyhound.They were coursing it. They ran away on seeing him, and he followed them nearly to Fletchertown.

       Defendants stated they were not coursing. The dog was in the strap when witness saw them, and they let it off to get away.

       The Bench inflicted upon each of the defendants a fine of 10s and
costs.
