SALVATION ARMY WEDDING AT MARYPORT:
The members of the Salvation Army Corps at Maryport are at the present holding revival services, which are being led by Captain MILLAR and a number of girls of the Soul Saving Brigade, and so far they have met with success. On Monday afternoon a holiness convention was held in the barracks, the members of Aspatria, Cockermouth, Workington and Whitehaven Corps taking part. They afterwards marched up to the Presbyterian School-room, where a wedding banquet was partaken of. About 200 persons sat down, the tables being presided over by: Mrs. HUGGINS Mrs. DIXON Mrs. EVANS Mrs. PEARSON Mrs. TINDALL Mrs. MILLIGAN Mrs. DONALDSON Mrs. FORSYTHE Mrs. MOORE Mrs. JACKSON Mrs. THOMPSON Mrs. HARRIS Sister BENSON Miss. DIXON Miss. SMITH Miss. CLARK Miss. MARSHALL Miss. CUTHEL Miss. THOMPSON Miss. HARRIS An open air demonstration was held after the banquet and the members proceeded to the barracks, where the marriage of Captain W. JACKSON, Maryport, and Lieutenant B. ROTHWELL, Brighton Slums, was solemnised, the ceremony being conducted by Brigadier RICHARDS, assisted by staff Captain WILLIAMS, J. S., secretary of the Manchester Province, and staff Captain BLUNDELL, Divisional Officer of the Carlisle Division. The hall was packed long before the ceremony commenced. The bride and bridegroom afterwards spoke to the meeting. The honeymoon will be spent at St. Helen's. |
