The members of the above Lodge met at the Masonic Hall, College Street, on Tuesday evening last, for supper, and, under the presidency of W. M. Bro. Wilson HASTWELL, spent a delightful social evening. The usual Masonic toasts having been duly honoured, Bro. Colonel ATKINSON, P. M. 119, P. P. G. S. W., in proposing the health of the W. M., referred in terms of appreciation to the excellent work done by Bro. HASTWELL during his period of office, and particularly to the complete success which has crowned his efforts to secure the Masonic Hall building as the exclusive property of the Lodge. the premises in College Street were purchased in 1858, and the cost of the property and of the alterations therein were met by the issues of shares. These shares have been acquired on behalf of the Lodge, which now possesses in it's own right one of the handsomest Masonic Halls in the Province. Bro. HASTWELL is to be congratulated not only on the success of his labours in bringing about this happy result, but also in being the W. M. of a Lodge by which by it's vitality and success is worthily upholding the honourable traditions which attach to it as the oldest Lodge in the Province. |
