       There was no business of the slightest importance before the Bench on
Saturday. On Wednesday the Magistrates present were W. HODGSON, W. N. HODGSON,
Esqs., and the Rev. W. REES.

       -RUDDICK, implicated with David NORMAN, in the charge of defrauding
Mr. STUDHOLME of Morton, by sending in a false account of work alleged to have
been done, was brought up for examination; and NORMAN who is out on bail, being
present, the parties made statements which went to criminate each other. Some
additional evidence was given, rendering the case more clear against them,
and RUDDICK was also committed to take his trial at Sessions.

WIGTON.

       James SCOTT and John DENNIS, two men having the appearance of
navigators, on Thursday last, the 6th instant, at Wigton, were committed to trial at
Carlisle Jail, by the Rev. John HEYSHAM, charged with stealing two shirts on
the previous Tuesday, the property of Mr. James SCOTT, of Howend, in the parish
of Thursby.
