Keswick Urban The monthly meeting of this Council was held in the Town Hall on Tuesday evening, when Mr. D.N. PAPE was in the chair. With regard to the Station Road extension a letter was read from Mr. P. THOMPSON stating that the directors of the Keswick Hotel had not yet had any formal meeting to consider about the piece of land required by the Council for extension purposes. If they were disposed to part with it, he asked, would the Council bear the cost of purchase? Mr. PHILIPSON moved, and Mr. LOWTHER seconded, that the matter be referred to the Station Road Committee, This was agreed to. In order to push on the Victoria Street extension, the Sanitary Committee have issued instructions to the Clerk to get the conveyances ready as early as possible. Mr. WOOD drew attention to the need of crossings in the town, and moved that the Railway Company be asked to put two crossings in the Station Road before the Council took it over. Mr. T. BROWN seconded the motion, and Mr. WOOD was appointed a deputation to the Company. Mrs. MARSHALL, Derwent Island, wrote asking the Council to light up the Lake Road to the Lake side. The Chairman gave notice that he would bring the matter before the Council at the next monthly meeting. In reference to the High School, Mr. MUMBERSON said he had given notice to the Governors that he would move that reporters be admitted to their meetings, and he now proposed that their representative on the Board of Governors ( MR. John MARSHALL) be respectfully asked to vote for the admission of reporters. As the HEWETSONS had left the money for the benefit of the parish of Crosthwaite, he maintained that they ought to have some information as to where it was going to. MR. W. WOOD seconded the motion. Mr. MUMBERSON further moved that Mr. Reginald D. MARSHALL, their representative on the County Council, be asked to vote for the motion. Mr. LOWTHER seconded the motion, and both were carried unanimously.
