We understand that a seizure of nearly two tons of spurious stuff, known as "P.D.," has been recently made by the excise of this city.  It appears to have been used extensively in the adulteration of pepper.  Instructions for prosecution will probably be issued, ere long, by the Board of Excise.   Worcester Paper

Captain Murdered.

In the House of Commons, on Thursday last, in reply to a question, Sir R. PEEL said that though he was not in possession of any direct information officially as to these murders, yet he believed there was no reason to doubt the intelligence that the parties had been barbarously murdered by the Ameer of Bokhara on the 17th of June, 1842.  The Emperor of Russia was indignant at the crime, and had, since then refused to hold any communication with Bokhara, and the Sultan had pursued a similar course.  Notwithstanding the distance and the difficulties in the way, he did not despair of obtaining satisfaction for the atrocious crime.  COLONEL STODDART was in the public service, but he could not speak with certainty as to whether CAPTAIN CONOLLY was or was not in the public service.

Ireland.

It is said that Government have resolved on issuing a commission, whose labours are to commence during the ensuing recess, for the purpose of inquiring into the relations between landlord and tenant in Ireland, and that their report on the subject will be laid before the house early next Session, when it is considered as not improbable, judging from the tone of one of the speeches of the Prime Minister, that a measure of legislation founded thereon will be submitted to the consideration of Parliament.  The rumour further adds, that the Earl of Devon, a Nobleman distinguished for the moderation of his politics, is selected to conduct the inquire, and that his Lordship's assistants will be chosen from amongst men of all parties, a competent knowledge of the real merits of the question at the issue being the only requisite qualification.
